Day 1 | Guiyang to Leishan by Private Vehicle – Matang Village Batik Art & Shiqiao Ancient Papermaking

Accommodation Accommodation:
4-star/5-star standard room
MealMeal:
Meals are flexible and can be included or excluded. When included, authentic local dining will be arranged.

Your Guizhou adventure begins with a comfortable pickup from your hotel, airport, or train station in Guiyang. Your private guide and driver will meet you and take you southeast toward Leishan County, the heartland of the Miao people. As the city scenery gradually disappears, the road leads you into green mountains, winding valleys, and traditional villages hidden among the hills.

Your first stop is Matang Village, a peaceful Miao village known for its unique batik art. Unlike modern printed fabrics, Miao batik is created by hand using beeswax and natural dyeing techniques. As you walk through the village, you'll see local artisans carefully drawing patterns onto cloth, many of which represent Miao legends, nature, and ancestral beliefs. You'll have time to meet local craftsmen and learn how a simple piece of fabric becomes a meaningful cultural artwork. It's not just a craft demonstration — it's a chance to understand how Miao traditions have survived through generations.

After lunch, continue driving to Shiqiao Village, another hidden cultural gem surrounded by mountains. Here, you'll discover the ancient art of handmade papermaking, a technique that has been preserved for more than a thousand years. Local villagers still use traditional methods, from preparing tree bark fibers to drying paper sheets under the sun. You can try making your own piece of handmade paper and learn why this village became famous for preserving this rare cultural heritage.

In the late afternoon, your driver will take you to your hotel in Leishan. After settling in, you can relax and enjoy the peaceful mountain atmosphere.

Day 2 | Leishan – Langde Miao Village & Getou Miao Village

Accommodation Accommodation:
4-star/5-star standard room
MealMeal:
Meals are flexible and can be included or excluded. When included, authentic local dining will be arranged.

After breakfast, your guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel in Leishan and take you to Langde Miao Village, one of the most traditional Miao villages in southeastern Guizhou.

Upon arrival, you'll experience a unique Miao welcome ceremony featuring the famous 12-course "block-the-door wine" . Each bowl of rice wine represents a special blessing, from good fortune and happiness to health and a safe journey. Before entering the village, you'll pass through each "gate" of the ceremony while local villagers sing, offer wine, and welcome you with genuine Miao hospitality.

After the welcome ceremony, take your time exploring Langde Village. Built along the mountainside, the village features traditional wooden stilt houses, stone pathways, and peaceful surroundings. Your guide will introduce the stories behind Miao architecture, clothing, and daily traditions, helping you understand that these villages are not just scenic places but living communities with centuries of history.

After lunch, continue driving deeper into the mountains to Getou Miao Village. The journey itself offers beautiful views of Guizhou's mountain landscapes and rural scenery. After getting off the vehicle, you'll take a short walk through the surrounding paths to reach the village, passing forests, farmland, and peaceful mountain views along the way.

Getou is a remote Miao village where traditional lifestyles remain beautifully preserved. After arrival, you can slow down and enjoy the quiet atmosphere, observe local daily life, and experience the charm of a mountain community away from the crowds.

Tonight, you'll stay overnight at a local Getou village hotel, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the peaceful rhythm of village life after sunset.

Day 3 | Leishan to Huanggang by Private Vehicle – Zhanli Dong Village, Huanggang Dong Village & Grand Choirs Bonfire Party

Accommodation Accommodation:
4-star/5-star standard room
MealMeal:
Meals are flexible and can be included or excluded. When included, authentic local dining will be arranged.

Today, you'll leave the Miao villages behind and travel deeper into the Dong ethnic region. After breakfast, your private driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you toward Huanggang.

On the way, visit Zhanli Dong Village, a quiet village famous for its traditional Dong culture and unique family customs. Surrounded by mountains and forests, the village has preserved its original wooden architecture and peaceful atmosphere. Walking through the village, you'll see traditional wooden houses, old drum towers, and villagers living at a slower pace. It's a wonderful place to photograph rural landscapes and observe authentic Dong village life.

Continue to Huanggang Dong Village, one of the most impressive traditional Dong villages in southeastern Guizhou. Unlike many developed tourist villages, Huanggang remains a living community where traditions are still actively practiced. The village is famous for its Dong Grand Choirs, a UNESCO-recognized cultural tradition where villagers sing together without musical instruments. Their voices blend naturally, creating powerful melodies that tell stories of history, nature, and community.

In the evening, enjoy a special Grand Choirs Bonfire Party. Sitting around the fire with local villagers, listening to traditional songs, and watching cultural performances creates one of the most memorable moments of this journey.

Day 4 | Huanggang to Zhaoxing by Private Vehicle – Biasha Miao Village Cultural Experience

Accommodation Accommodation:
4-star/5-star standard room
MealMeal:
Meals are flexible and can be included or excluded. When included, authentic local dining will be arranged.

After breakfast, your guide and driver will pick you up and continue the journey toward Zhaoxing. Along the way, stop at Biasha Miao Village, a fascinating village known for preserving ancient Miao warrior traditions.

When you arrive, you'll witness the unique Biasha welcome ceremony. Traditionally known as "the last gunman tribe of China," Biasha men dressed in traditional clothing line up and fire three shots to welcome honored guests. Beyond the dramatic ceremony, the village offers a rare glimpse into Miao traditions. You'll walk through old wooden houses, meet local villagers, and enjoy folk performances showcasing traditional music and dance. One of the most unusual experiences here is the famous sickle haircut ritual. Instead of using modern scissors, local men demonstrate a traditional haircut using a sickle — a custom that reflects their distinctive cultural identity.

After exploring Biasha, continue driving to Zhaoxing Dong Village, one of the largest and most beautiful Dong villages in China. As you approach the village, you'll see wooden houses stretching along the valley, surrounded by green mountains and rice fields.

Take a leisurely walk around the village in the evening. The lantern-lit wooden houses and quiet streams create a magical atmosphere.

Day 5 | Zhaoxing – Tang'an Dong Village Rice Terraces & Mountain Village Walk

Accommodation Accommodation:
4-star/5-star standard room
MealMeal:
Meals are flexible and can be included or excluded. When included, authentic local dining will be arranged.

After breakfast, your guide will meet you at the hotel and take you to Tang'an Dong Village, a hidden mountain village above Zhaoxing. The road gradually climbs higher, revealing beautiful views of layered mountains and rice terraces. Tang'an is famous for its peaceful scenery and traditional Dong farming culture, making it one of the best places to experience the connection between local people and nature. You'll walk through the village paths, wooden houses, and ancient stone roads while learning about Dong architecture and rural traditions from your guide.

One of the highlights is the walk along the Tang'an rice terraces, where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the valley. Depending on the season, the terraces may reflect the sky like mirrors, turn golden during harvest time, or show different shades of green across the mountains. Unlike busy sightseeing areas, Tang'an offers a slower and more personal experience. You can stop anytime to take photos, chat with villagers, or simply enjoy the peaceful mountain scenery.

In the afternoon, return to Zhaoxing and enjoy free time to explore the village at your own pace. You may visit the drum towers, walk along the river, or enjoy local snacks in small village restaurants.

Questions About the Itinerary

Hello, the itinerary looks exactly like the kind of Guizhou experience we are looking for. We would love to explore the local villages and learn more about Miao and Dong culture instead of just visiting the popular attractions. I have a few questions before booking:
1. Since some villages seem quite remote, how comfortable is the transportation between each destination?
2. Will we have opportunities to interact with local people and experience the traditional ceremonies?

Combining Yangshuo Tour with Other Destinations

Hello, we are planning our China trip and would like to include Guilin and Yangshuo in our itinerary.
1. Is one day enough to see the highlights of Yangshuo?
2. Can this tour be combined with a visit to Longji Rice Terraces?
3. Would you recommend staying overnight in Yangshuo?

Hi Amara,
Thank you for your message! The ideal length of stay in Yangshuo depends on your travel style, but we're happy to share some suggestions.
1. A one-day trip is enough to experience the most iconic highlights, including the Yulong River scenery, West Street area, and countryside landscapes. It is a great option for travelers staying in Guilin with limited time.

2. Longji and Yangshuo are located in different directions, so combining both in one day would make the schedule too rushed. We usually recommend arranging them as separate day trips or adding an extra night.

3. If you have more time, staying overnight allows you to enjoy Yangshuo's relaxed evening atmosphere, local restaurants, and countryside scenery without rushing back to Guilin.

Questions About Sunrise, Photography & Best Hiking Route

Hi, I'm planning a trip to Huangshan and this itinerary looks exactly like what I'm looking for. I'm especially interested in sunrise photography and the mountain scenery. I have a few questions before booking:
1. Which sunrise viewpoint would you recommend if we stay overnight on Huangshan Mountain?
2. Does the itinerary include places like Bright Summit and Xihai Scenic Area?
3. How much hiking is involved each day? I'm comfortable walking but would prefer a route with the best views rather than the most difficult trails.
4. What time do we usually start the hike on the second day?

Hi Isolde,
Thank you for your message! We're glad to hear that you're interested in this Huangshan journey. Huangshan is one of the best destinations in China for sunrise and landscape photography, and we'd be happy to help you arrange a route that balances beautiful views and comfortable walking.
1. The sunrise viewpoint depends on your hotel location and weather conditions, but popular options include Bright Summit and areas near Beihai.
2. Yes, we can adjust the route according to your interests. Bright Summit is one of Huangshan’s classic viewpoints, while Xihai Scenic Area offers some of the most dramatic mountain landscapes. We can recommend the best combination based on your hiking preference and available time.
3. The hiking distance depends on the route selected. The classic Back Mountain route after taking the Yungu Cable Car is relatively comfortable, while some areas such as Xihai involve more stairs and longer walking. Our guide can help adjust the pace during the tour.
4. Usually, we recommend starting early to enjoy the quieter mountain atmosphere and better lighting for photography. The exact timing will depend on the sunrise time and weather conditions.

We hope you enjoy capturing the most beautiful moments of Huangshan!

Perfect for pearl shopping with my family

We booked this tour because my mother wanted to buy a pearl necklace, and we didn’t feel confident going to Zhuji on our own. The journey from Hangzhou was very easy, and we appreciated being picked up directly from our hotel. The pearl market was huge with so many choices, from simple everyday jewelry to more elegant pieces. We enjoyed taking our time to look around instead of being rushed.
