7-Day Authentic Guizhou Tour: Explore Waterfalls, Ancient Villages & Mountain Landscapes

Your Guizhou adventure begins in Guiyang, the capital city surrounded by mountains and known as the gateway to southwest China. Upon your arrival at Guiyang Airport or train station, your private driver will meet you at the arrival hall and transfer you comfortably to your hotel. We arrange private transfers based on your arrival schedule, so you can start your trip smoothly without worrying about navigating public transportation with luggage.

After checking in, the rest of the day is free for you to explore Guiyang at your own pace. If you arrive early, we recommend visiting Jiaxiu Pavilion, one of Guiyang's most recognizable landmarks. Sitting on a stone bridge over the Nanming River, this historic pavilion offers a beautiful introduction to the city's culture, especially when the lights come on in the evening. For travelers who enjoy a little nature escape, Qianling Mountain Park is another great choice. Known as "the first mountain in southern Guizhou," the park combines peaceful forest paths, mountain views, and local life. You may see locals practicing tai chi, feeding playful monkeys, or enjoying tea in traditional teahouses.

Tonight, you'll stay overnight in Guiyang and prepare for the natural wonders waiting ahead.

After breakfast, your private driver and guide will pick you up from your Guiyang hotel and begin today's journey to Anshun, home to some of Guizhou's most impressive natural landscapes.

The drive takes around 1.5–2 hours, and along the way, your guide will introduce you to Guizhou's unique geography. Unlike many parts of China, Guizhou is famous for its karst mountains, deep valleys, and dramatic bridges built across seemingly endless landscapes.

Your first stop is Balinghe Bridge, one of the world's highest suspension bridges. Standing above the Baling River Canyon, the bridge offers an incredible viewpoint where you can appreciate the scale of Guizhou's mountainous terrain. The contrast between the modern engineering masterpiece and the untouched mountains below makes this a surprisingly memorable stop.

Afterward, continue to the highlight of the day — Huangguoshu Waterfall. As China's largest waterfall, Huangguoshu is famous not only for its impressive height and width but also for the unique experience of seeing it from multiple angles. You'll walk along scenic paths through lush forests, enjoy different viewpoints of the waterfall, and, if conditions allow, experience the famous Water-Curtain Cave behind the falling water. Your guide will help you choose the best visiting route based on the weather and your walking preference, avoiding unnecessary backtracking and allowing you to enjoy the scenery comfortably.

After exploring Huangguoshu, your private car will take you back to Guiyang. Relax during the return journey and enjoy the changing landscapes outside your window.

After breakfast, your guide and driver will pick you up from your Guiyang hotel and start the journey south to Libo, one of Guizhou's most beautiful natural destinations. The drive takes approximately 3-4 hours, but the journey itself is part of the experience. As you leave Guiyang behind, the scenery gradually changes from urban landscapes to rolling green mountains, traditional villages, and winding roads through Guizhou's countryside.

Upon arrival in Libo, visit the famous Xiaoqikong Scenic Area, often described as a "green jewel" hidden among the mountains. The area is known for its turquoise rivers, waterfalls, ancient bridges, and dense forests. Walking along the wooden paths beside the clear streams, you'll feel like you've entered a peaceful natural garden far away from the crowds. Your guide will arrange the route according to your pace, allowing enough time to enjoy highlights such as the Seven Small Arches Bridge, the emerald pools, and the cascading waterfalls. The water here changes color depending on the sunlight, creating some of the most photogenic scenery in Guizhou.

Later, continue exploring Daqikong Scenic Area. Compared with Xiaoqikong's delicate beauty, Daqikong feels more dramatic, with towering cliffs, deep valleys, and a quieter atmosphere. You'll enjoy a bamboo raft ride along the river, slowly drifting between the karst mountains and experiencing the peaceful rhythm of Guizhou's countryside.

After the visit, your driver will transfer you to your hotel in Libo County. Enjoy a relaxing evening after a day surrounded by nature.

After breakfast, your private driver and guide will pick you up from your Libo hotel and take you to Maolan National Nature Reserve, a hidden gem known for its untouched karst forests, caves, and spectacular mountain landscapes.

Today, you'll enjoy a nature hike through the reserve, following the route from Dongsi to Jiudongtian and Fairy Cave. The trail takes you deep into the karst forest, where limestone formations, ancient trees, and peaceful mountain scenery create a truly immersive experience. The hike to the cave entrance takes around one hour, followed by a journey through Jiudongtian and the surrounding karst landscape, with the whole hiking experience lasting about 3 hours.

After exploring Maolan, enjoy a local lunch before continuing your journey to Huanggang Dong Village, one of Guizhou's most authentic Dong ethnic villages. 

Hidden among the mountains, Huanggang still preserves its traditional wooden houses, drum towers, and slow-paced village life. Upon arrival, you'll check into a boutique homestay and experience a more intimate side of Guizhou's countryside.

In the evening, gather around the village drum tower for a traditional Dong bonfire experience, where you can enjoy local songs, cultural performances, and the warm hospitality of the villagers. It's a perfect way to end a day filled with nature and local culture.

Wake up to the peaceful atmosphere of Huanggang Village. Before leaving, take time to explore the village at a slower pace with your guide.

After breakfast, you'll walk through the village lanes and discover the traditional Dong wooden architecture, including stilted houses, covered bridges, and the iconic drum tower. Your guide will introduce you to the unique Dong culture, from their wooden construction techniques to their famous singing traditions that have been passed down through generations.

Later, enjoy a 1.5-hour mountain walk around the surrounding countryside. The trail takes you through quiet mountain paths, farmland, and villages surrounded by green hills. It's a wonderful opportunity to see everyday rural life in Guizhou — farmers working in the fields, traditional houses scattered along the slopes, and landscapes that feel untouched by modern life.

After lunch, your private driver will take you toward Jiangkou County, the gateway to the famous Fanjingshan Mountain. The journey offers beautiful views of Guizhou's countryside, with winding mountain roads connecting small villages and valleys.

As a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of China's most famous Buddhist mountains, Fanjingshan is known for its dramatic peaks, ancient temples, and misty mountain scenery. You'll take the East Gate cable car up and down, making the journey more comfortable while saving energy to enjoy the spectacular views at the top.

After reaching the mountain area, follow the scenic trails to explore the original forest, visit the iconic Mushroom Stone, and admire the breathtaking mountain landscape. For those who wish to continue higher, you can climb toward the Golden Summit, passing unique rock formations and temple sites along the way. Standing at an altitude of 2,336 meters, the summit offers incredible panoramic views when the weather is clear.
