Start the unique gourmet journey with an immersive parent-child food-making class focusing on authentic Nanjing traditional desserts. Under the guidance of professional local chefs, families will learn to make two iconic Jinling delicacies: Yuhua Stone Glutinous Rice Balls and traditional plum blossom cakes. You will learn the whole production process from kneading colored glutinous rice dough, blending natural pigments, wrapping sweet fillings, to mould pressing and baking. The guide shares interesting stories about Yuhua stone culture and the century-old history of plum blossom cakes, integrating hands-on practice with local cultural popularization. All self-made desserts can be tasted on site or taken home, bringing exclusive and memorable edible souvenirs.

After the interactive handcraft session, enjoy a hearty authentic Nanjing feast at a local time-honored restaurant. Taste classic signature dishes including Nanjing salted duck, duck blood vermicelli soup, crispy fried small balls and seasonal Jiangnan vegetarian dishes. All dishes adopt mild traditional flavors suitable for all ages, presenting the delicate, fresh and sweet characteristics of standard Jinling cuisine, allowing you to appreciate the essence of Nanjing's century-old dietary culture.

After lunch and a brief break, transfer to Laomen East Historical Block, the best-preserved ancient Jiangnan food and folk custom gathering area. Wander the antique bluestone streets lined with century-old snack shops and intangible cultural heritage stalls. Roam various local specialty stores to taste classic street foods such as sugar-fried hawthorns, seasonal green rice cakes and traditional Jiangnan pastries. The guide will recommend hidden local delicacies and distinguish authentic old-brand snacks from tourist-style foods, bringing a pure and authentic local gourmet roaming experience.

When the sun sets, move to the Qinhuai River core area to experience the prosperous night food atmosphere of ancient Jinling. Stroll the Confucius Temple food block, gather various classic Qinhuai snacks and featured desserts, and feel the bustling night market vitality with lantern-lit ancient buildings. You can freely taste casual night snacks and enjoy the gentle Jiangnan night breeze.

Optional Activity: Qinhuai River Night Boat Cruise – Take an antique cruise boat to overlook the glowing riverside food streets and ancient architectural clusters, combining gourmet roaming with romantic night scenery appreciation.

What Our Travelers Say

The trains made the route surprisingly easy

I had never traveled around China by high-speed train before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Once we got the hang of it, it was actually one of the easiest parts of the trip. Having someone meet us at the stations was especially helpful because some of the stations are enormous. We could just get off the train, find our driver and move on.

Thanks, Marlowe! Glad to hear our train journeys turned out to be easier than expected. Those big stations can definitely feel a bit overwhelming at first, so it's great to hear that having our driver there made things smoother. Hope you enjoyed the rest of the trip!

A Photographer's Kind of Day

If you like old architecture, bring a camera. Badaguan was probably my favorite part because every street seemed to have a slightly different look. The church and railway station were also great photo stops. I liked that the tour wasn't only about famous sights — there was plenty of time to notice small details along the way.

Thanks, Soren! We're delighted that the architectural side of Qingdao caught your eye. The city has so many small details that are easy to miss when you're in a hurry.

Definitely earned its reputation

I knew Mount Tai would be the big highlight for me, but it was still better than expected. The views kept changing as we went higher, and there was something really special about seeing the old temples and inscriptions along the mountain. The whole trip was also very well organized. We had enough time at each place without feeling like we were constantly watching the clock.

Beautiful City, Bring Comfortable Shoes

We really enjoyed the tour, although there is definitely a fair amount of walking, so comfortable shoes are a must. The old streets were probably my favorite part because there was something interesting around every corner. Baotu Spring was busy when we visited, but the water itself was beautiful. Overall, it was a very nice way to see the central part of Jinan in one day.

Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful review and practical tip! We're glad you enjoyed the mix of Jinan's famous springs and quieter old streets. It was a pleasure to be part of your day in Jinan, and we hope you took home some lovely memories of the city.
