Your four-day adventure starts in Guilin, but there's no need to rush straight into sightseeing. After you arrive, your private driver will meet you at Guilin Airport or railway station and take you directly to your hotel. Check in, freshen up, and leave the rest of the afternoon free to settle into the city.
As evening arrives, head out for your Guilin Evening Food Crawl. This is your first introduction to the city, and food is a much more interesting place to start than a list of landmarks. Follow your guide through the local streets and sample a selection of Guilin specialties along the way. Of course, there's the famous Guilin rice noodles, but don't stop there. Try a few local snacks, see what is sizzling at the roadside stalls, and get a feel for how Guilin's food culture changes once the sun goes down.
The best part is the atmosphere. The streets become busier, small eateries fill with locals, and the smell of freshly cooked food seems to follow you from one stop to the next. You're not sitting through a long formal dinner—you're wandering, tasting, and discovering the city one bite at a time.
After dinner, return to your hotel and enjoy a relaxed evening. Tomorrow, the city gives way to a completely different side of Guangxi.
After breakfast, your private driver will pick you up at your hotel and take you out of central Guilin. Today trades busy city streets for rural markets, limestone landscapes, and the fascinating underground world of Crown Cave.
Start your morning at a local countryside market, where you'll see a quieter and more everyday side of Guangxi. Walk through the market stalls as locals shop for fresh vegetables, fruit, spices, snacks, and ingredients for their meals. It's a great opportunity to see the region beyond its famous scenery and get a feel for the routines of rural life. Don't worry about trying to understand every ingredient you see. Your guide can point out interesting local products and explain how they are commonly used in Guangxi cooking.
After exploring the market, stop for lunch before continuing toward the karst countryside.
From the market, continue to Crown Cave, one of the distinctive karst attractions along the Li River. The journey itself becomes increasingly scenic as limestone hills and green countryside begin to dominate the landscape. Inside the cave, you'll discover a world shaped by water over thousands of years, with impressive limestone formations, underground chambers, and winding passages creating a dramatic contrast to the bright countryside outside. Take your time to appreciate the details rather than simply rushing from one section to the next. The textures of the rock, the changing shapes of the cave, and the cool underground atmosphere make this a completely different way to experience Guilin's karst landscape. Once back outside, the surrounding mountains and greenery offer a refreshing change after the cave's darker interior.
In the evening, sit down to a private kitchen dinner featuring local flavors and seasonal ingredients. After seeing where local people shop in the morning, it's interesting to experience how those ingredients make their way onto the table. The setting is more intimate than a standard tourist restaurant, giving you time to enjoy the food and the slower pace of the evening.
After dinner, return to your Guilin hotel and relax.
After breakfast, check out and leave Guilin behind. Your private vehicle will take you from Guilin to Yangshuo, with the karst scenery gradually becoming more prominent as you travel south. Today is about getting closer to Yangshuo's countryside—and having a little more fun while you do it.
Once you arrive in Yangshuo, switch four wheels for two and set off on a sidecar ride through the countryside. This is a great way to experience the landscape at a slower, more open-air pace. Ride along quiet country roads with rice fields, village houses, orchards, and those unmistakable limestone peaks appearing around almost every bend. Unlike looking at the scenery through a car window, a sidecar ride puts you right in the middle of it. Feel the breeze, listen to the countryside, and stop for photographs when the view is too good to pass. After the ride, enjoy lunch before continuing into Yangshuo town.
In the afternoon, explore Yangshuo West Street, one of the town's liveliest areas. The atmosphere changes quickly from quiet countryside to busy streets filled with cafés, restaurants, shops, and old buildings. Take a relaxed walk, browse the local stores, or find a spot to sit and watch the street scene for a while. You don't need to rush through West Street. Give yourself time to wander without a strict checklist—the charm is in the mix of old and new.
Later, step into a local kitchen for a hands-on cooking class. With your instructor's help, you'll prepare several regional dishes and learn more about the ingredients and techniques behind Guangxi cuisine. It's a more interactive way to experience local food, especially after spending the previous two days tasting your way through the region. And yes, you'll get to eat what you make.
After the class, check in at your Yangshuo hotel and enjoy the rest of the evening at your own pace.
Your final morning begins with one of the most peaceful experiences of the trip. After breakfast, check out of your Yangshuo hotel and meet your private driver, then head toward the Li River for a slow journey through the heart of Guilin's karst landscape.
Step onto a bamboo raft and let the river do the work. As the raft moves gently downstream, the scenery opens up around you—steep limestone peaks rise from the green countryside, small villages sit quietly along the banks, and the river reflects the mountains whenever the water is calm. After several days of exploring on foot and by road, this slower pace feels like a natural change of rhythm. There's nowhere you need to rush to and no checklist to follow. Just settle in, watch the peaks shift with every bend, and enjoy one of the most recognizable landscapes in China from the water itself. After the rafting experience, continue to a local restaurant for lunch.
After lunch, trade the river for a scenic hiking trail and see the same landscape from above. The trail takes you gradually higher, with glimpses of the surrounding peaks appearing between the trees as you climb. When you reach the viewpoint, the scenery opens up into a wide panorama of limestone mountains, winding waterways, farmland, and villages below. It's a fitting contrast to the morning: from the quiet movement of the river to a sweeping view from the hills. Take your time here, enjoy the fresh air, and look back at the landscape you've spent the last few days exploring from different angles.
When you're ready, descend from the viewpoint and meet your private driver for the journey from Yangshuo back to Guilin. Your driver will drop you at your Guilin airport or railway station, depending on your onward plans. As the road brings you back toward the city, you'll have a chance to look back on four days that went well beyond the usual Guilin sightseeing route—from late-night local food and countryside markets to karst caves, sidecar rides, cooking, and finally the Li River itself.
It's a relaxed way to finish the journey: one last view of the mountains, one last stretch of countryside, and no need to hurry.
