Your Luoyang adventure begins as soon as you step off the high-speed train. There's no need to figure out local transport or queue for a taxi. We'll arrange your pickup in advance based on your train schedule, with a private vehicle waiting for you at the station. If you're already staying in Luoyang, we can also pick you up directly from your hotel. Since you only have one day, we'll keep the route practical and comfortable, leaving more time for the places that are actually worth seeing. Once you're settled in the car, you can simply relax and enjoy the ride as we head to your first stop.
Marvel at the Stone Carvings of Longmen Grottoes
Your first stop is Longmen Grottoes, one of Luoyang's most remarkable cultural treasures. Spread along the cliffs on both sides of the Yi River, thousands of statues and inscriptions were carved here over centuries. As you walk through the grottoes, you'll see everything from delicate early carvings to the grand Buddhist statues of the Tang Dynasty. The impressive scale is only part of the experience. Look closely at the faces, clothing, poses, and details of the statues, and you'll begin to see how Chinese art changed across different periods. We'll help you make the most of your time here, focusing on the key areas while keeping the pace comfortable. After exploring the grottoes, your private vehicle will take you to the next stop.
Step into the Quiet World of White Horse Temple
From the grandeur of Longmen Grottoes, the atmosphere changes completely at White Horse Temple. Often regarded as the first Buddhist temple in China, White Horse Temple has a history stretching back nearly 2,000 years. Its courtyards, old trees, halls, and statues create a much quieter experience than the city's larger attractions. Take your time walking through the temple grounds and noticing the small details. This is a place where you don't need to rush. Sometimes simply wandering beneath the old trees and taking in the atmosphere is part of the experience.
Taste Luoyang Over a Local Lunch
By now, you'll probably be ready for a proper meal. Instead of grabbing something quickly between attractions, we'll arrange lunch at a convenient local restaurant. This is a good chance to try some of Luoyang's regional flavors, including local specialties such as Luoyang Water Banquet if you'd like a more traditional experience.
If you have dietary preferences or simply know what you don't eat, just let us know in advance. We'll take that into account when arranging the meal. A good lunch also gives you a chance to slow down for a while before heading into the Old Town.
Wander Through Luoyang Old Town
In the afternoon, we'll take you into Luoyang Old Town, where you can see a different side of the city. After a morning spent among ancient monuments, the Old Town brings you back to everyday Luoyang. Traditional buildings, small shops, street food, local snacks, and ordinary city life come together here in a much more relaxed atmosphere. Rather than treating the Old Town as another quick photo stop, we'll leave you some time to wander at your own pace. Stop for a snack, browse a small shop, or simply enjoy the atmosphere of the old streets. If there's something that catches your eye, tell us. We can adjust the timing when possible, as we'd rather you enjoy the place than feel like you're being pushed from one stop to the next.
Return to the Railway Station and Catch Your Train
When it's time to leave, your private vehicle will take you back to Luoyang Railway Station. We'll work backward from your departure train to make sure there's enough time for the drive and station procedures. This is especially important on a one-day high-speed rail trip—you want to finish the day feeling relaxed, not sprinting through the station with your luggage. Once you arrive at the station, your Luoyang day comes to an end. You can simply head inside, board your train, and enjoy the ride home with a full day of history, food, and local experiences behind you.
