Day 1 | Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou by Car: Wenchuan, Maoxian, Songpan & Jiuzhaigou

Accommodation Accommodation:
4-star/5-star standard room
MealMeal:
Free choice to explore local cuisine with guide recommendations

Depart Chengdu in the morning and begin your journey toward the spectacular Tibetan-Qiang region of northern Sichuan.

Drive through Wenchuan, a mountain town surrounded by the Min River valley, then continue to Maoxian, an important center of Qiang culture. Along the way, enjoy views of deep valleys, snow-covered mountains, rivers, and traditional villages.

Continue via Songpan Ancient Town, a historic frontier town once serving as an important gateway between Sichuan and Tibetan areas. Take time to explore the old city walls, traditional streets, and unique ethnic atmosphere.

After the visit, continue to Jiuzhaigou and check in at your hotel.

Day 2 | Jiuzhaigou: Full-Day Deep Exploration of Jiuzhaigou National Park

Accommodation Accommodation:
4-star/5-star standard room
MealMeal:
Free choice to explore local cuisine with guide recommendations

Today is dedicated entirely to exploring the legendary Jiuzhaigou National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site widely hailed as a "fairyland on earth." Upon entering the scenic zone, you will ride convenient park sightseeing shuttles to travel seamlessly between scattered core viewing spots, saving energy for leisurely sightseeing and immersive nature appreciation.

Mirror Lake earns its reputation as Jiuzhaigou's top reflection spot. Its glass-like still water creates flawless symmetrical mirror images of surrounding snow-capped peaks, dense pine forests and drifting clouds. On windless mornings, the boundary between the real mountain landscape and its underwater reflection fades completely, forming a dreamlike dual-world view ideal for quiet landscape photography.

Nuorilang Waterfall ranks among China's widest highland waterfalls. Wide cascading water surges down layered rock cliffs, generating misty spray under sunlight and forming faint rainbows on clear days. The grand, gentle waterfall contrasts beautifully with surrounding green valleys, representing the most iconic waterfall scenery within the park.

Five Flower Lake is celebrated for its mesmerizing multi-hued water. Submerged ancient tree trunks and mineral-rich lakebed create layered gradients of turquoise, sapphire blue and emerald green that shift with light and seasons. Even in winter when the surface partially freezes, patches of vivid colored water remain visible, making it Jiuzhaigou's most photogenic colored lake.

Nestled amid quiet primeval conifer forests and rolling alpine mountains, Panda Lake boasts soft, calm waters with a serene, tranquil atmosphere. Away from crowded main viewing platforms, this spot delivers peaceful wilderness vibes, perfect for slow walks and capturing undisturbed natural mountain-lake scenery.

As the largest and deepest lake in Jiuzhaigou, Long Lake stretches deep into the alpine valley, framed by towering snow peaks all year round. Its elongated shape paired with vast unspoiled mountain backdrop delivers sweeping panoramic highland views, showcasing the grandest scale of the park's aquatic landscapes.

After hopping between lakes and waterfalls by shuttle, stroll along well-built wooden boardwalks winding through lush ancient forests to observe the ever-changing shades of water bodies, cascades and mountain ridges up close. Spending a full uninterrupted day inside the park grants you ample unrushed time for landscape shooting, casual wandering and slow immersive sightseeing without tight schedules.

Day 3 | Jiuzhaigou: Second Visit, Tibetan & Qiang Cultural Evening Show

Accommodation Accommodation:
4-star/5-star standard room
MealMeal:
Free choice to explore local cuisine with guide recommendations

Enjoy another entrance to Jiuzhaigou National Park and explore areas you may have missed on the first day. A second visit allows you to experience the park from a different perspective, with changing weather, sunlight, and seasonal colors creating a completely new atmosphere. You may revisit favorite spots or discover quieter viewpoints away from the main crowds.

As night falls over the majestic Jiuzhaigou mountains, immerse yourself in a brilliant authentic Tibetan and Qiang ethnic cultural show to wrap up your nature-filled day with profound local ethnic charm. Far from commercialized performances, this wonderful stage presentation gathers intangible cultural heritage performances passed down by local Tibetan and Qiang people for thousands of years, fully showcasing the most genuine folk customs and spiritual culture of the Sichuan plateau mountain settlements.

Day 4 | Jiuzhaigou: Huanglong Scenic Area & Return to Chengdu

Accommodation Accommodation:
4-star/5-star standard room
MealMeal:
Free choice to explore local cuisine with guide recommendations

After a hearty breakfast, set off for Huanglong Scenic Area, another breathtaking UNESCO highland natural gem tucked in Sichuan's mountainous terrain, famed alongside Jiuzhaigou for one-of-a-kind karst wonders.

Renowned worldwide for its striking golden travertine landforms, Huanglong is dotted with thousands of tiered colorful mineral pools cascading gently down undulating mountain slopes. Framed by snow-capped peaks, dense primeval conifer forests and vast alpine meadows, the seamless blend of vivid aquatic terraces and rugged highland vistas forms an unparalleled natural landscape found nowhere else in China.

Five-Color Ponds is iconic core zone represents the pinnacle of Huanglong's landscape. Stacked mineral terraces hold crystal-clear water shimmering in shifting hues of sapphire, emerald, amber and sky blue. Rich mineral deposits beneath the water surface create magical color gradients that transform with sunlight, drawing photographers and nature lovers from across the globe.

Stretching along the main hiking trail, Golden Valley is defined by winding layered limestone travertine formations that glow warm golden yellow under sunshine. Rows of connected shallow pools flow down the hillside like a giant golden dragon winding through green mountains, giving the scenic area its poetic name "Yellow Dragon".

The entire walking path weaves through lush ancient alpine forests blanketed with moss and wild flora. As you ascend and descend the gentle trail, you'll be rewarded with sweeping panoramic mountain views, fresh crisp plateau air and quiet woodland scenery that complements the dazzling travertine pools.

After finishing your full exploration of Huanglong's top scenic spots, start your return transfer back to Chengdu. You will arrive downtown by evening, marking the end of your highland nature tour.

A Fascinating Glimpse into Shenzhen's Future with an Excellent Guide

We had a fantastic day exploring Shenzhen's technology scene, and it was one of the most memorable experiences of our trip to China.

Everything was very well organized, from the hotel pickup to the comfortable private vehicle. What we appreciated most was that the day never felt rushed. Our guide gave us plenty of time to experience each activity and was always happy to explain how the technology worked.

The driverless taxi was definitely a highlight. Sitting inside and watching the car navigate the city without a driver was both fascinating and slightly surreal! We also really enjoyed the hands-on robot experiences, especially trying the exoskeleton and interacting with the robot dog. Seeing a delivery drone actually arrive with food made the whole experience feel even more futuristic.

Our guide was wonderful throughout the day—knowledgeable, friendly, and with excellent English. She made the technology easy to understand without turning the tour into a technical lecture.

If you're looking for something beyond Shenzhen's usual sightseeing spots, we highly recommend this tour. It's a fun and very different way to experience how technology is shaping everyday life in the city.

The trains made the route surprisingly easy

We have just finished our 21-day trip through China, and it was an amazing experience from beginning to end. We saw so many different sides of the country — the pandas and relaxed atmosphere in Chengdu, the history of Xi'an, the energy of Chongqing, the incredible mountains in Zhangjiajie, and then the beautiful landscapes around Guilin and Yangshuo.

What made the trip much easier was the support from our guides and drivers in each destination. They were always on time, helpful with our luggage and transportation, and happy to answer questions. The drivers were particularly good at navigating busy city traffic and mountain roads, and we always felt safe in the cars.

The high-speed trains were comfortable, and having someone meet us at the stations took away a lot of the stress of traveling between cities. It was a long trip, but the pace worked well for us. There were busy sightseeing days, followed by some slower time to relax and explore on our own.

By the end, we were tired but very happy. China is much more diverse than we expected, and this trip gave us a wonderful introduction to it.

A Lovely Walk Through Old Qingdao

We had a very warm day for our tour, but everything was arranged so smoothly that the weather didn't cause any problems. Our guide, Elodie, was friendly and knew a lot about Qingdao's history. She gave us some background before each stop, which made the old buildings much more interesting instead of just looking at them from the outside.

Our driver was also excellent. He handled the city traffic confidently and we felt very comfortable throughout the day. The route was well planned, with enough time to walk around Badaguan, explore the Governor's House, and visit St. Michael's Church.

I especially liked Badaguan because of the old villas and tree-lined streets. It feels quite different from the busier parts of Qingdao. Overall, it was an easy and enjoyable way to discover the city's architectural heritage in a single day.

A Wonderful Introduction to Shandong's History and Culture

My wife and I have travelled to China several times, but this was our first time visiting Shandong. We wanted to see more than the usual big cities, and this three-day journey through Jinan, Qufu and Mount Tai turned out to be an excellent choice.

What I enjoyed most was the variety of the trip. Jinan has such a relaxed atmosphere, especially around the springs and old streets. It was fascinating to see how the spring water is still part of everyday life rather than simply something preserved for tourists. The city felt very different from Beijing or Shanghai, and we were glad to have included it.

Qufu gave us a completely different experience. I have always been interested in Chinese history and philosophy, so visiting the hometown of Confucius was particularly meaningful. The historic sites are impressive, but having someone explain the background and traditions made them much easier to appreciate. Without that context, I think we would have missed many of the details.

Mount Tai was the real finale of the trip. We knew there would be quite a bit of walking, but the combination of mountain scenery, ancient inscriptions and historic temples made the effort worthwhile. The views changed constantly as we went higher, and the atmosphere near the top was something I will remember for a long time.

I would also like to mention how smoothly everything was organized. Our driver was punctual, the car was comfortable, and all the transfers between cities were handled without any stress. After a full day of sightseeing, it was particularly nice to simply get into the car and know that everything had already been taken care of.

Our travel consultant was also extremely helpful during the planning stage. We had quite a few questions about the route, transportation and how much time we should allow for Mount Tai, and every question was answered patiently. The itinerary felt well balanced rather than rushed, which is important to us as we prefer to actually enjoy a place instead of simply collecting photographs.

This trip gave us a very different perspective on China. Jinan showed us the everyday charm of a city built around its springs, Qufu introduced us to one of the most influential figures in Chinese history, and Mount Tai brought together nature, religion and centuries of tradition.

For anyone interested in Chinese history and culture, I would certainly recommend spending a few days exploring this part of Shandong. It was a memorable journey, and one that felt very different from our previous trips to China.
