MealMeal:
Free choice to explore local cuisine with guide recommendations

Your exclusive private driver and bilingual guide will warmly greet you at Beijing Airport or Railway Station based on your personal arrival schedule. This reserved buffer day is specially designed for travelers to overcome jet lag, settle down and slowly adapt to Beijing's local climate, time zone and urban environment. You can freely explore nearby downtown streets, taste casual local snacks, or simply relax in the hotel. Your guide will provide detailed travel tips, confirm the entire 7-day itinerary arrangement, and remain on standby for any personalized needs, ensuring a comfortable and stress-free start for your upcoming in-depth Beijing cultural journey.

Day 2: Beijing | Morning Market Experience, Yongding Gate, Temple of Heaven & Qianmen Street

Accommodation Accommodation:
4-star/5-star standard room
MealMeal:
Free choice to explore local cuisine with guide recommendations

Begin the morning with an authentic local market experience in a traditional Beijing neighborhood. Accompanied by your guide, explore a lively morning market where local residents shop for fresh vegetables, seasonal fruits, meat, spices, and everyday ingredients. Your family can observe the daily rhythm of Beijing life, discover unfamiliar foods, and enjoy a more authentic glimpse into the city's local culture. Your guide can also introduce you to popular breakfast foods and local market customs.

We then head to Yongding Gate, the southern starting landmark of Beijing's UNESCO Central Axis. From visitors' perspective, this restored Ming city tower is the perfect spot to understand the overall layout of ancient Beijing. Standing on the gate platform, you can take wide-angle photos of the straight central axis stretching northward, and listen to easy-to-follow explanations about how ancient city planners designed the capital's symmetrical layout. Unlike busy inner-city spots, this area has far fewer tourists, giving you quiet space for unobstructed landscape photography.

We then drive to the Temple of Heaven, the most famous ancient imperial sacrificial complex in China. You will follow a classic non-backtracking walking route covering the Circular Mound Altar, Echo Wall, and Prayer Hall. Travelers' favorite highlights here include testing the magical acoustic effect of the Echo Wall, capturing the iconic circular three-layer altar architecture, and learning why emperors traveled here annually to pray for harvests. The spacious tree-lined courtyards provide cool, quiet walking paths ideal for slow strolling and family photography.

In the evening, we transfer to Qianmen Street for leisurely night wandering. As one of the best-preserved historic commercial streets in central Beijing, this area comes alive after sunset with warm lanterns hanging along vintage archways. You can browse century-old local brand stores, taste classic Beijing street snacks, and buy traditional souvenirs. The retro street scenery creates fantastic night photography backdrops, allowing you to experience the lively civilian atmosphere of old Beijing before returning to your hotel by private car.

Day 3: Beijing | Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Jingshan Park, Wanning Bridge, Bell & Drum Tower & Shichahai

Accommodation Accommodation:
4-star/5-star standard room
MealMeal:
Free choice to explore local cuisine with guide recommendations

Today's route follows a smooth northbound central axis route without repeated detours, covering the most iconic imperial and old-city landmarks in Beijing. Start the morning at Tiananmen Square, the world's largest urban central square. Visitors love this open grand space for solemn panoramic shots of Tiananmen Gate, the national flag platform and the Monument to the People's Heroes. Your guide will share simple, vivid background stories about the square's history, and reserve plenty of time for you to take full-set landscape photos without rushing.

Next, enter the Forbidden City (Palace Museum) for an in-depth walking tour. We take the classic core route: Meridian Gate → Outer Court ceremonial halls → Inner royal palaces → Imperial Garden. As a top highlight for all travelers, you will see grand golden glazed roofs and red palace walls, learn interesting royal daily life stories instead of boring architectural theories, and be guided to hidden less-crowded photo spots inside the palace complex to avoid crowded mainstream viewing platforms.

A short walk north leads to Jingshan Park, the highest viewing point on the entire central axis. This is the most popular spot for visitors to shoot a full overhead panoramic view of the complete Forbidden City. Climb the gentle slope up to Wanchun Pavilion, and you can capture the straight north-south central axis running through the whole old city. The guide will help you find the best camera angles, and you can pause to rest on mountain pavilions surrounded by lush green trees.

We continue north to the ancient Wanning Bridge, the oldest stone arch bridge in downtown Beijing. Most group tours skip this hidden gem, making it a favorite for travelers who want unique low-crowd shots. Admire the well-carved ancient stone railings, and hear stories about its vital role in old Beijing's water transport system.

Further ahead stand the landmark Bell and Drum Towers, the ancient time-telling center of old Beijing. You can climb up the towers to view the huge original ancient drum and bronze bell, and learn how residents relied on bell and drum sounds to arrange daily lives hundreds of years ago. The surrounding low grey-brick hutong scenery forms authentic old Beijing backdrops for casual street photos.

When night falls, we stroll along Shichahai Lakeside and Houhai Bar Street. The lake reflects soft lantern lights, with quiet hutongs alongside lively waterfront bars. Travelers can wander freely, take romantic night lake photos, or sit by the lake to enjoy the peaceful old Beijing night vibe, a perfect contrast to the grand imperial palaces visited in the daytime.

Day 4: Beijing | Mutianyu Great Wall Private Hiking Day

Accommodation Accommodation:
4-star/5-star standard room
MealMeal:
Free choice to explore local cuisine with guide recommendations

We set off early by private car to avoid tourist bus crowds, heading straight for Mutianyu Great Wall, widely regarded as the most visitor-friendly Great Wall section near Beijing. For hiking lovers and casual travelers alike, Mutianyu's biggest advantages are gentler ramparts, continuous intact watchtowers and dense green mountain forests covering the ridges. We offer optional cable car up and slide car down services, so you can choose light hiking without exhausting steep climbs.

Along the wall, you can stop freely to take panoramic shots of winding ramparts stretching across layered mountain peaks. Your bilingual guide will share vivid stories about Ming border defense and beacon tower functions, and reserve plenty of rest time at viewing platforms for you to catch your breath and capture scenery. After a full day of mountain sightseeing, we enjoy authentic local farm-style lunch nearby, then drive smoothly back to downtown Beijing by private vehicle.

Day 5: Beijing | Dongsi Hutong Museum, Private Courtyard Tea Ceremony & Huguang Guild Hall Peking Opera

Accommodation Accommodation:
4-star/5-star standard room
MealMeal:
Free choice to explore local cuisine with guide recommendations

This day focuses on exclusive offline cultural experiences you cannot get from regular landmark tours, favored by travelers who love authentic local folk customs. In the morning, visit the Dongsi Hutong Museum, a professional folk museum recording the full evolution of Beijing's hutong lifestyle. Unlike superficial street hutong walks, here you can view preserved old daily utensils, historical photos and miniature hutong layout models. The guide will explain how ordinary Beijingers lived in quadrangle courtyards generations ago, letting you fully understand the origin and development of hutong culture with intuitive exhibits.

In the afternoon, enjoy an exclusive private courtyard tea ceremony experience inside a real inhabited siheyuan, far from noisy commercial tourist blocks. This is one of the most popular experience links for foreign visitors. You will sit in a quiet ancient courtyard shaded by old trees, watch professional tea artisans demonstrate traditional Chinese tea-making craftsmanship, taste premium local tea varieties, and learn simple tea etiquette. The peaceful courtyard atmosphere lets you slow down and feel the elegant leisurely lifestyle of old Beijing residents, with plenty of time for quiet portrait and cultural detail photos.

In the evening, we head to Huguang Guild Hall to watch a live Peking Opera performance. This century-old opera venue retains original ancient wooden stage architecture, creating an immersive traditional art atmosphere. Travelers can appreciate stunning intricate costumes, stylized facial makeup, melodic singing and classic Chinese historical stories. The guide will briefly translate plot content before the show, so you can easily follow and understand the opera without language barriers.

Day 6: Beijing | Summer Palace, Old Summer Palace, Sanlitun Taikoo Li

Accommodation Accommodation:
4-star/5-star standard room
MealMeal:
Free choice to explore local cuisine with guide recommendations

This day creates a striking contrast between ancient imperial garden aesthetics and modern international city glamour, satisfying both culture enthusiasts and fashion sightseeing lovers. Spend the morning exploring the Summer Palace, China's largest and most complete royal garden UNESCO site. Visitor-favorite highlights include the world's longest painted corridor covered with thousands of traditional Chinese landscape and figure paintings, the Buddha Fragrance Pavilion standing on the hilltop with unbeatable full views of Kunming Lake, and elegant Seventeen-Arch Bridge across the lake. You can walk along the lakeside waterfront paths, feel the cool lake breeze, and capture layered shots of mountains, water and ancient palaces integrated as one. The guide will introduce the garden's construction background and royal leisure stories during the Qing Dynasty.

After lunch, we visit the Old Summer Palace Ruins Park. Walking along quiet paths among broken marble carvings and ancient foundation relics, you can witness the grand scale of the once magnificent imperial garden. The guide delivers objective, easy-to-understand historical background, letting you feel the profound historical weight behind the relics. The vast tree-filled park offers quiet, empty shooting frames unique to this site.

As dusk arrives, we transfer to Sanlitun Taikoo Li, Beijing's most iconic trendy fashion block. This is the perfect spot for travelers to capture modern Beijing's youthful, international vibe. Wander open geometric pedestrian plazas lined with global brand boutiques, creative art installations and glowing neon street signs. You can stroll freely, take stylish city fashion photos, and choose from diverse international and local catering options to experience the prosperous modern urban side of Beijing.

The final day features a fully relaxed unrushed schedule for casual wandering, souvenir shopping and last-minute cultural photography before departure. In the morning, take a slow walking tour of Nanluoguxiang, the 700-year-old iconic ancient hutong block. We will avoid overcrowded main streets and turn into quiet branch alleys dotted with old courtyard gatehouses and century-old locust trees. Travelers can browse handmade craft shops, try classic Beijing street snacks, and take retro old-city street photos. The guide shares interesting folk legends and block history while you move at your own pace, with no fixed walking speed to follow.

In the afternoon, head to Wangfujing Street, Beijing's most famous central commercial pedestrian street. It perfectly combines traditional local culture and modern urban prosperity. You can visit cultural specialty stores to pick up delicate Chinese souvenirs, taste a full range of Beijing classic snacks, and wander modern shopping malls. It is an ideal stop to buy gifts for family and friends back home, and experience the lively mixed atmosphere of old and new downtown Beijing.

Much more fun than I expected

I booked this mostly because my husband is obsessed with anything involving AI, but I ended up enjoying it just as much. The driverless taxi was the biggest surprise — sitting inside and watching the car make its own decisions felt a little strange at first! The robot dog was also hilarious. Our guide explained things without making it feel like a technology lecture, which I really appreciated.

Thanks, Eamon! We love hearing that the tour surprised you in the best way. The driverless taxi can feel a little odd at first, but once you settle in, it's a pretty memorable experience. Glad you both had fun exploring Shenzhen's tech side!

The trains made the route surprisingly easy

I had never traveled around China by high-speed train before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Once we got the hang of it, it was actually one of the easiest parts of the trip. Having someone meet us at the stations was especially helpful because some of the stations are enormous. We could just get off the train, find our driver and move on.

Thanks, Marlowe! Glad to hear our train journeys turned out to be easier than expected. Those big stations can definitely feel a bit overwhelming at first, so it's great to hear that having our driver there made things smoother. Hope you enjoyed the rest of the trip!

A Photographer's Kind of Day

If you like old architecture, bring a camera. Badaguan was probably my favorite part because every street seemed to have a slightly different look. The church and railway station were also great photo stops. I liked that the tour wasn't only about famous sights — there was plenty of time to notice small details along the way.

Thanks, Soren! We're delighted that the architectural side of Qingdao caught your eye. The city has so many small details that are easy to miss when you're in a hurry.

Definitely earned its reputation

I knew Mount Tai would be the big highlight for me, but it was still better than expected. The views kept changing as we went higher, and there was something really special about seeing the old temples and inscriptions along the mountain. The whole trip was also very well organized. We had enough time at each place without feeling like we were constantly watching the clock.
