Continue to Kaiyuan Temple, Quanzhou's most iconic Buddhist landmark with over 1,300 years of history. Admire its impressive twin pagodas, ancient halls, and exquisite stone carvings, which reflect the city's prosperous past as an international trading hub where different cultures once met.

Visit Guanyue Temple, a beloved local temple dedicated to Guan Yu and Yue Fei, where you can observe traditional worship customs and experience the deep-rooted religious culture of Fujian communities.

In the afternoon, head to Qingyuan Mountain, a scenic cultural site famous for its peaceful landscapes, historic inscriptions, and the remarkable stone statue of Laozi, offering a glimpse into China's Taoist traditions.

The day ends at Xunpu Village, a traditional coastal fishing village known for its oyster-shell houses and distinctive local customs. Meet local residents, discover the famous floral headwear worn by Xunpu women, and experience a living example of Fujian's maritime culture that has been preserved for generations.

Continue to Yongning Ancient Town, a historic coastal settlement shaped by centuries of maritime exchange. Explore its old streets and traditional buildings while experiencing the slower pace of life in a Fujian seaside town.

Later, relax at Gold Coast, enjoying the beautiful coastline and refreshing sea views. The journey continues to Luojia Temple, a unique temple built beside the sea. The Hanfu Evening Was So Much Fun

The Hanfu evening was something I almost skipped because I thought it might be too touristy. I'm very glad I didn't. Walking around Luoyi Ancient City dressed up, with the lights coming on and little performances happening around the streets, was genuinely fun. It was probably the most playful part of the trip after several days of museums and historical sites. Also, I ate far too many snacks that night.

Haha, the snacks are difficult to resist! We're happy you decided to give the Hanfu experience a try. It's a nice change of pace after the more historical parts of the itinerary.

Came for the Peonies

The peonies were the main reason I booked this trip, and luckily they were in really good shape when we visited. The National Peony Garden was huge and there were so many different colors that I probably took too many photos.
I also liked that the tour didn't make the whole trip about flowers. Longmen Grottoes was completely different and probably the most memorable place overall. Our guide gave us enough background to understand what we were looking at, but we still had time to wander around by ourselves.
The train station pickup and drop-off were also very convenient. For a short two-day trip, everything felt quite straightforward.

Thanks, Niall! Glad the peonies were showing off when you visited — the timing can be a bit of a gamble with flowers. Hope you took home a few good photos!

More Than Just Dressing Up

I thought the Hanfu experience would mainly be about getting dressed up and taking a few photos, but I ended up enjoying the whole day much more than expected. The hair and makeup were beautifully done, and everything felt quite natural once we were out exploring.
We visited a few of Luoyang's historic places along the way, but the best part was simply walking around in Hanfu and having time to enjoy the atmosphere. The whole day felt relaxed and fun, and I came home with some of my favorite photos from the trip.

Thank you, Elowen! We're so glad the Hanfu experience turned out to be more than you expected. We also love keeping this day relaxed, so you have time to enjoy the outfit, take photos, and simply take in Luoyang without feeling rushed.

Not Just a Temple Visit

I was expecting this to be mostly a Shaolin Temple sightseeing trip, so the morning at the martial arts school was a really nice surprise. We got there early and watched the students training before joining some of the basic exercises. I lasted considerably less time than they did! The two-hour Kung Fu lesson was probably my favorite part. It was much more about stance, balance and repetition than I expected, which made me appreciate the performance on the last day a lot more. The driver was also very punctual throughout the trip, which made everything feel easy.

Thank you, Orlaith! And yes, the students make those "simple" exercises look much easier than they really are. We're glad you enjoyed getting a little closer to their daily routine.
