Day 1: Shanghai: Nanjing Road, The Bund, Yu Garden & City God Temple

Accommodation Accommodation:
4 star/5 star hotel/botique hotel (can be customized)
MealMeal:
Our guide will recommend authentic local restaurants with traditional cuisine and regional flavors.

Your private guide and driver will meet you directly at your hotel, airport, or railway station in the morning, so there is no need to navigate Shanghai traffic or metro lines after arrival. Once you settle into the vehicle, your guide will give you a quick introduction to how Shanghai transformed from a fishing village into one of the world's most futuristic cities — which honestly makes the skyline ahead feel even more impressive.

The morning begins at the famous Nanjing Road, where flashing storefronts, century-old department stores, and the nonstop rhythm of the city immediately throw you into "classic Shanghai mode." Your guide will not simply walk you down the street pointing at buildings. Instead, you will hear stories about old Shanghai nightlife, jazz culture from the 1920s, and how this street survived wars, concessions, and economic reinventions while somehow still remaining Shanghai's beating commercial heart.

As you continue walking eastward, the skyline slowly opens up until you finally reach the legendary The Bund. This is the moment people usually stop mid-sentence and grab their cameras. Your guide will help you identify the historic banks, trading houses, and Art Deco landmarks lining the waterfront while also pointing across the river toward the futuristic towers of Lujiazui — a visual contrast that basically summarizes Shanghai in one single view.

Lunch is intentionally paced slower today because Shanghai deserves time to settle in properly. Instead of rushing you into a tourist buffet situation, your guide will bring you to a local restaurant suited to your preferences — maybe steaming xiaolongbao fresh from bamboo baskets, crispy scallion noodles tossed in savory sauce, or classic red-braised pork that Shanghainese families grew up eating. This is also usually the moment when travelers realize Shanghai cuisine is much subtler and more comforting than expected.

In the afternoon, the atmosphere changes completely as you enter the elegant world of Yu Garden. After the grand skyline views of the Bund, Yu Garden feels almost like stepping into another dynasty. Your guide will walk you through rockeries, koi ponds, carved pavilions, moon gates, and hidden symbolic details that many visitors pass without noticing. You will hear how classical Chinese gardens were designed almost like three-dimensional poetry — every window frame, bridge angle, and stone placement intentionally shaping what you see next.

Just outside the garden sits the lively City God Temple of Shanghai area, where the old city energy returns immediately. Lanterns glow overhead, food stalls fill the alleys with fragrance, and your guide will show you where locals still come for traditional snacks and folk customs despite the modern skyline surrounding them.

As evening approaches, your private driver will bring you comfortably back toward the waterfront so you can experience the Bund again after dark — because honestly, daytime Shanghai and nighttime Shanghai feel like two entirely different cities. Once the skyline lights turn on across Lujiazui, the riverfront transforms into a cinematic panorama of glowing towers, illuminated domes, and reflections dancing across the Huangpu River. Your guide will help you find the best photography angles while also showing quieter sections away from the heaviest crowds. Afterward, your driver escorts you smoothly back to your hotel, so you can end the evening without worrying about late-night transportation.

Day 2: Shanghai: Wukang Mansion, Wukang Road, Anfu Road, Sinan Mansions, Xintiandi & Jing'an Temple

Accommodation Accommodation:
4 star/5 star hotel/botique hotel (can be customized)
MealMeal:
Our guide will recommend authentic local restaurants with traditional cuisine and regional flavors.

After hotel pickup, today's Shanghai feels almost like a completely different city pretending to share the same map. The skyscrapers fade away. The pace softens. Streets narrow slightly beneath giant plane trees that filter sunlight onto old apartment balconies and historic villas.

Your morning starts at the iconic Wukang Mansion, one of the most photographed buildings in Shanghai — and yes, it absolutely deserves the attention. Your guide will explain why this unusual wedge-shaped apartment building became such an architectural symbol while also sharing stories about celebrities, writers, and political figures who once lived nearby.

From here, you will begin a relaxed city walk along Wukang Road and Anfu Road, where old European-style villas hide beneath giant plane trees and every corner somehow feels effortlessly photogenic. Unlike the crowded tourist zones, this area allows you to slow down and actually absorb daily Shanghai life. Your guide may point out tiny details you would normally miss — old mailbox designs, preserved garden gates, former mansions hidden behind ivy walls, and cafés occupying restored historical residences.

Around midday, your guide can arrange lunch at a stylish local bistro, a hidden Shanghainese restaurant, or even a cozy café tucked inside a restored villa depending on your mood that day. This flexibility is one of the advantages of having a private guide instead of following a rigid group schedule. Maybe you want soup dumplings again. Maybe today suddenly feels like pasta and coffee beneath old French Concession balconies. Shanghai allows both without contradiction.

In the afternoon, you continue toward the elegant Sinan Mansions area, where restored historic villas now house boutique shops, bookstores, galleries, and cafés. Your guide will explain how Shanghai managed to preserve certain architectural districts while rapidly modernizing around them. The storytelling here feels less like a history lecture and more like slowly uncovering the city's personality layer by layer.

Afterward, you head to Xintiandi, one of Shanghai's most successful urban renewal projects, where traditional Shikumen stone-gate houses blend with luxury dining, designer boutiques, and contemporary city life. Your guide will help decode how these old residential alleyways evolved into one of Shanghai's trendiest neighborhoods without completely losing their historical identity.

As evening arrives, your private driver takes you toward Jing'an Temple. Seeing the golden temple illuminated against surrounding skyscrapers creates one of Shanghai's most underrated night scenes. Your guide may explain Buddhist traditions, local worship customs, and the temple's surprisingly resilient history while the city traffic hums quietly outside the gates. Dinner nearby offers another chance to experience Shanghai's dining scene — whether you prefer refined local cuisine, late-night noodles, or modern fusion restaurants. After dinner, your driver returns you comfortably to your hotel for the night.

Day 3: Shanghai: Shanghai Disneyland

Accommodation Accommodation:
N/A (Flexible, can be included based on your needs)
MealMeal:
Our guide will recommend authentic local restaurants with traditional cuisine and regional flavors.

This morning starts early — partly because Shanghai Disneyland gets busy fast, and partly because Disney excitement somehow turns adults into overly energetic children before 9 AM.

After seamless hotel pickup, your private driver takes you directly to Shanghai Disney Resort, allowing you to arrive smoothly without navigating complicated transfers or long taxi queues. And yes, strategy matters here more than people expect. Shanghai Disneyland is massive, and your guide will help you approach the park intelligently rather than wandering into three-hour ride lines by accident.

Inside the park, the atmosphere changes immediately. Music spills into the streets, futuristic attractions sit beside fairy-tale castles, and suddenly everyone starts taking photos of absolutely everything — including snacks. Your guide can help structure the day around your travel style. If you are chasing adrenaline, you can head straight toward TRON Lightcycle Power Run before queues explode later in the day. If you prefer immersive Disney atmosphere, you may spend more time exploring themed lands, hidden details, parades, and castle areas at a slower pace. Because this is a private experience, the day adjusts around you instead of forcing you into a rigid timeline.

Lunch inside the park becomes part of the entertainment itself. Maybe you try themed Disney meals, oversized turkey legs, Mickey-shaped desserts, or simply recharge with something quick before jumping back into attractions. Throughout the day, your guide continues sharing practical insider tips — where parade crowds build fastest, which show timings work best, and where to find quieter corners when the park becomes busiest.

As the day winds down, your private driver will transfer you directly to the airport, railway station, or your next Shanghai hotel depending on your departure plans. No dragging luggage through metro stations after a full Disney day. No stressful transportation decisions. Just one final smooth ride through the city while Shanghai's skyline slowly fades behind you.

This Shanghai 3 day tour is designed to feel less like checking attractions off a list and more like experiencing the city through constantly changing moods — glamorous, historical, artistic, local, futuristic, and unexpectedly relaxed all at once. Across three days, you will walk through old Shanghai alleyways, stand beneath futuristic skyscrapers, sip coffee under French Concession plane trees, and end inside one of Disney's most ambitious parks in the world. More importantly, you will never need to worry about how to get from one experience to the next. Your private guide, dedicated driver, flexible pacing, and carefully designed route allow the city to unfold naturally around you — comfortably, smoothly, and with far more depth than a standard sightseeing itinerary ever could.

What Our Travelers Say

The trains made the route surprisingly easy

I had never traveled around China by high-speed train before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Once we got the hang of it, it was actually one of the easiest parts of the trip. Having someone meet us at the stations was especially helpful because some of the stations are enormous. We could just get off the train, find our driver and move on.

Thanks, Marlowe! Glad to hear our train journeys turned out to be easier than expected. Those big stations can definitely feel a bit overwhelming at first, so it's great to hear that having our driver there made things smoother. Hope you enjoyed the rest of the trip!

A Photographer's Kind of Day

If you like old architecture, bring a camera. Badaguan was probably my favorite part because every street seemed to have a slightly different look. The church and railway station were also great photo stops. I liked that the tour wasn't only about famous sights — there was plenty of time to notice small details along the way.

Thanks, Soren! We're delighted that the architectural side of Qingdao caught your eye. The city has so many small details that are easy to miss when you're in a hurry.

Definitely earned its reputation

I knew Mount Tai would be the big highlight for me, but it was still better than expected. The views kept changing as we went higher, and there was something really special about seeing the old temples and inscriptions along the mountain. The whole trip was also very well organized. We had enough time at each place without feeling like we were constantly watching the clock.

Beautiful City, Bring Comfortable Shoes

We really enjoyed the tour, although there is definitely a fair amount of walking, so comfortable shoes are a must. The old streets were probably my favorite part because there was something interesting around every corner. Baotu Spring was busy when we visited, but the water itself was beautiful. Overall, it was a very nice way to see the central part of Jinan in one day.

Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful review and practical tip! We're glad you enjoyed the mix of Jinan's famous springs and quieter old streets. It was a pleasure to be part of your day in Jinan, and we hope you took home some lovely memories of the city.
