Pick-up from Your Hotel in Xi'an
Your private guide and driver will meet you at your hotel in Xi'an in the morning. After a brief introduction to the day's itinerary, begin your journey to the Terracotta Warriors Museum. The drive takes approximately 1–1.5 hours depending on your hotel location and traffic conditions. Along the way, your guide can introduce you to Xi'an's history and explain the importance of the Qin Dynasty and Emperor Qin Shi Huang.
Visit the Terracotta Warriors and Horses
Arrive at the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum, one of China's most significant archaeological discoveries and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the museum with your private guide and learn how thousands of life-size terracotta soldiers, horses, chariots, and weapons were created more than 2,000 years ago to protect Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of a unified China, in the afterlife.
The highlight of the visit is Pit 1, the largest and most impressive excavation pit. From the viewing platform, you can see rows of terracotta soldiers standing in battle formation, each featuring distinctive facial expressions, hairstyles, clothing, and poses. Continue to Pit 2 and Pit 3 to discover different military formations and learn more about the organization of the Qin army. Your guide will explain the archaeological discoveries, restoration process, and theories surrounding the construction of the mausoleum complex.
Allow around 2.5–3 hours for the museum visit so you have enough time to explore the main exhibition areas and take photos.
Return to Xi'an City
After lunch, relax in your private vehicle as you travel back toward the center of Xi'an. Your guide can introduce more of the city's history, including its role as the eastern starting point of the ancient Silk Road and its importance as the capital of several Chinese dynasties.
Explore Xi'an Ancient City Wall
Arrive at the Xi'an Ancient City Wall, one of the city's most recognizable landmarks and one of the most complete ancient city walls in China. Enter through the historic city gate and walk along the broad top of the wall while enjoying panoramic views over both the old and modern parts of Xi'an. Your guide will explain the history of the wall, which was extensively developed during the Ming Dynasty. You will see defensive towers, watchtowers, battlements, gates, and other military structures that demonstrate how the ancient city was protected. For an active and memorable experience, you can also choose to cycle along the city wall. The wide, flat path provides an excellent opportunity to see Xi'an from a different perspective and take photos of the traditional city gates and surrounding skyline.
Tour Ends
After exploring the Ancient City Wall, your private driver will take you back to your hotel or another convenient location in central Xi'an. Your one-day Xi'an historical experience ends with a deeper understanding of the city's role in Chinese civilization, from the Qin Dynasty more than 2,000 years ago to the historic city that visitors can still explore today.
